FBI releases figures: Over $3.4 billion stolen from people over 60
The U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation reported that Americans over the age of 60 were defrauded of more than $3.4 billion last year.

The FBI has released a report containing data on fraud in the country. The report states that the FBI received more than 100,000 complaints from fraud victims over the age of 60 last year.
The report, which notes that victims were defrauded of approximately more than $3.4 billion in 2023, shared the information that complaints from people over 60 were about 11 percent higher than the previous year's data.
FBI Deputy Assistant Director of the Criminal Investigative Division James Barnacle underscored the severity of the situation, stating, "This can be devastating for people who don't have the ability to earn that money back. People are losing their entire life savings."
Pointing out that organized crime groups targeting older Americans use various tactics, Barnacle said, "Many of the fraud schemes involve victims sending money via wire transfer or cryptocurrency transfer."
