The US Federal Reserve (Fed) has announced its interest rate decision. The Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) decided at today's meeting to keep the federal funds rate unchanged in the 5.25-5.50 percent range.
The Fed has kept interest rates unchanged for the fifth consecutive meeting, which was in line with market expectations that rates would be held steady at today's meeting.
The Fed will announce its next interest rate decision on May 1.
Since March 2022, the Fed has implemented a total of 525 basis points in interest rate hikes across 11 of its 17 meetings. Interest rates are currently at a 23-year high.
