Gül was accompanied by his wife, Hayrünnisa Gül, on this trip and announced his visit through photos he shared on his social media account.
Gül stated that he was visiting historic cities such as Tashkent, Samarkand, Bukhara, and Khiva for the first time.
In his post, Gül stated, "I am visiting Tashkent, Samarkand, Bukhara, and Khiva, where the 'Golden Age' of Turkish-Islamic history was experienced, for the first time. I greatly appreciated the change, dynamism, and development I saw in Uzbekistan."
Having also attended the 28th Eurasian Economic Summit at the beginning of May, Gül continued his contacts in Central Asia with this visit.
