First rocket exploded in mid-air: Japan successfully launches H3 rocket on its 2nd attempt
The Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) reported that the launch of the H3 rocket, intended to deploy a navigation satellite, was successful.

The H3 rocket, carrying a navigation satellite to be used for enhancing GPS signals, was launched from the Tanegashima Space Center in Kagoshima Prefecture. JAXA officials noted that the satellite is expected to reach orbit within 2 weeks.
The Michibiki 6 satellite is intended to work in conjunction with previously launched satellites to support Japan's efforts to improve telecommunications.
According to the official Kyodo news agency, the fifth H3 rocket, named 'Michibiki 6', was launched by JAXA from the Tanegashima Space Center in Kagoshima Prefecture.
The H3 rocket is recognized as the successor to the H2A rocket, which has played a significant role in Japan's space exploration for over 20 years. The first launch attempt of the H3 rocket, developed by JAXA and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI), failed in March 2023.
That rocket was destroyed after takeoff because its second-stage engine failed to ignite. The H3 rockets numbered 2, 3, and 4 were successfully launched in 2024.
