Putin had taken over the shares of AB InBev Efes, an investment in Russia by Anadolu Efes and a separate Belgian company, through a trustee-like practice.

According to a report by Euronews, the alcoholic beverage and soft drink brand Anadolu Efes reacted on Tuesday to the 'trustee-like' seizure of shares belonging to AB InBev Efes, a joint venture established in Russia with Belgium's AB InBev in 2018.

AB InBev Efes was one of the three largest beer producers in Russia, with 11 breweries and three malt production facilities.

It is stated that with this decision, Moscow has taken control of the last 'foreign investor' in the beer sector.

According to reports from news sites in Russia, Moscow took over the shares of AB InBev Efes using a 'trustee-like' method.

As a result of this development, Anadolu Efes shares traded on the Istanbul Stock Exchange fell from 237 TL to 191.6 TL on Tuesday morning, experiencing a decline of 19.63 percent.
