First statement from Biden after son found guilty

US President Joe Biden made statements after his son, Hunter Biden, was found guilty by a jury in the trial where he was accused of purchasing a firearm while under the influence of drugs.

Biden said, "As I said last week, I am the President, but I am also a father. Jill and I love our son, and we are so proud of the man he is today.

So many families who have had loved ones struggle with addiction understand the sense of pride in seeing someone you love come out the other side and be so strong and resilient in recovery."

Biden stated, "As I said last week, I will accept the outcome of this case and will continue to respect the judicial process as Hunter considers an appeal. Jill and I will always be there for Hunter and the rest of our family with our love and support. Nothing will ever change that."

"I AM DISAPPOINTED"

Hunter Biden said he was "disappointed" by the verdict but "grateful" for his family's love.

Hunter Biden's attorney, Abbe Lowell, also said in a statement that they were "naturally disappointed" by the verdict but would continue to "pursue all the legal challenges available to Hunter."

Lowell said, "Hunter is grateful for the love and support he has received from his family throughout his recovery, including during this trial."

JURY FOUND HUNTER BIDEN GUILTY

After 3 hours of deliberation, the jury found Hunter Biden guilty on all charges, including lying to a federally licensed gun dealer, making false statements while purchasing a firearm, and illegally possessing a firearm for 11 days.

With the jury's decision, a family member of a sitting president has been found guilty for the first time. The crimes committed by Hunter Biden date back to before Biden's presidency. Hunter Biden could face up to 25 years in prison and a fine of up to 750 thousand dollars, but as a first-time offender, he will likely receive a much lighter sentence.

On the other hand, Biden had previously announced that he would not pardon his son, Hunter Biden.
