Flights to Iran cancelled

A significant change has been made to flights from Turkey to Iran. Turkish Airlines (THY) and Pegasus Airlines announced that they have suspended all flights to Iran scheduled for Friday due to mass protests and security concerns across the country.

Pegasus officials stated that they are closely monitoring developments in the country and that flights to Iran on Friday have been cancelled for the safety of passengers. Similarly, THY announced that five flights scheduled to Tehran will not be operated.

Following thousands of people taking to the streets to hold protests in Iran, the country's administration has increased security measures; severe restrictions have begun to be applied to the use of internet and telephone lines. These steps by the government are considered part of efforts to suppress the protests.

In a statement regarding the crisis, US President Donald Trump said, "I told them if they do anything bad to these people, we are going to hit them very hard." Trump also stated that he had warned the Iranian administration not to open fire on protesters.

While the events have led to temporary disruptions in airline operations in the region, citizens are advised to obtain up-to-date flight information from the airline companies.
