Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan met with Hamas Leadership Council Chairman Mohammed Darwish and members of the Hamas Political Bureau in Ankara.
According to information received from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the meeting addressed efforts to achieve a ceasefire in Gaza.
It was pointed out that Israel aims to condemn the Palestinian people to starvation by preventing humanitarian aid from entering Gaza. It was noted that the international community must exert more intensive efforts to deliver humanitarian aid to the region.
It was emphasized that efforts to expel Palestinians from their homeland are unacceptable. The situation in the West Bank was also evaluated during the meeting. It was noted that the steps taken by Israel to make the occupation permanent have reached dimensions that threaten regional peace.
The meeting also addressed efforts to achieve reconciliation among Palestinian factions. Foreign Minister Fidan touched upon the importance of achieving unity among Palestinian groups and stated that Turkey is ready to provide all kinds of contributions to efforts in this direction.
