Following the visit of Egyptian President Sisi to Ankara and his meeting with President Erdoğan, which marked the latest step in the normalization talks between Egypt and Turkey, it has been announced that Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan will attend the 162nd Ordinary Session of the Arab League (AL) Council of Foreign Ministers upon receiving an invitation. Fidan has been cited as one of the architects of Turkey's normalization process with Egypt.
Fidan is expected to bring Turkey-AL relations and regional issues to the agenda during the meeting.
The 162nd Ordinary Session of the Arab League (AL) Council of Foreign Ministers will take place tomorrow (Tuesday, September 10) in Cairo, the capital of Egypt. Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan will attend the council meeting, which is held in Cairo every year in March and September, as a guest and will deliver a speech.
Reports in the national press suggest that Fidan will emphasize the ongoing war in Gaza.
The meeting invitation comes at a time when Turkey is restructuring its relations with member countries. The meeting between Sisi, who visited Turkey last week, and President Erdoğan was interpreted by experts as an indicator of 'normalization' in Turkey's Middle East policies.
In recent times, Turkey has increased its diplomatic contacts with the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia, with whom relations were strained for a period, in addition to Egypt.
