Foreign ministers of 8 countries condemn Israeli raids on Al-Aqsa Mosque

In a joint statement issued by the foreign ministers of 8 countries, it was stated: "The Foreign Ministers of the Republic of Türkiye, the United Arab Emirates, the Republic of Indonesia, the State of Qatar, the Arab Republic of Egypt, the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan condemn in the strongest terms the ongoing raids on the Al-Aqsa Mosque by extremist Israeli settlers under the protection of Israeli forces, and the unfurling of the Israeli flag in the Al-Aqsa Mosque courtyard.

They emphasize that these provocative and unacceptable actions are a clear violation of international law, relevant United Nations resolutions, and the historical and legal status of the holy sites in occupied East Jerusalem.

The Foreign Ministers also condemn the ongoing systematic violations and measures by Israel, the occupying power, aimed at changing the historical, legal, and demographic structure of occupied East Jerusalem and undermining the sanctity and status of Muslim and Christian holy sites.

The Ministers reiterate their categorical rejection of any attempt to change the historical and legal status of Jerusalem and the Muslim and Christian holy sites therein; recognizing the special role of the historical Hashemite custodianship in this regard, they emphasize that this status must be preserved."

Call for an immediate halt to all illegal and provocative Israeli practices

The statement, which notes that the entire 144-dunam Al-Aqsa Mosque compound is a place of worship exclusively for Muslims, recorded the following:

"The Ministers reiterate that the Jerusalem Waqf and Al-Aqsa Mosque Affairs Department, affiliated with the Jordanian Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, is the sole legal authority with exclusive jurisdiction to manage the affairs of the holy Al-Aqsa Mosque and regulate access to it. The Foreign Ministers hold the Israeli authorities responsible for stopping these escalatory actions and warn that repeated Israeli violations fuel tension, instability, and extremism, undermine international efforts toward peace, and constitute a clear violation of Israel's obligations under international law. The Ministers call for an immediate halt to all such illegal and provocative Israeli practices and reaffirm that the historical and legal status at the Al-Aqsa Mosque must be fully respected. The Foreign Ministers reaffirm their unwavering solidarity with the Palestinian people and their firm support for the realization of their legitimate and inalienable national rights, primarily the right to self-determination and the establishment of an independent and sovereign Palestinian State on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital. The Ministers also reiterate their support for all efforts aimed at ending the Israeli occupation and achieving a just, lasting, and comprehensive peace based on the two-state solution, in accordance with international law, relevant United Nations resolutions, and the Arab Peace Initiative."
