Former Iraqi Defense Minister Shammari arrested in Sweden
Former Iraqi Defense Minister Najah Hassan al-Shammari has been arrested at Arlanda Airport in Stockholm, the capital of Sweden.

Prosecutor Jens Nilsson stated in an interview with the TV4 channel that Najah Hassan al-Shammari had been sought for 1.5 years as part of an investigation into suspicions that he received social benefits through false declarations in 2019, and that he was arrested for failing to appear for questioning.
When Shammari was appointed as Iraq's Minister of Defense in 2019, it was revealed that he was a Swedish citizen.
RESIGNED IN 2020
According to the TV4 report, Najah Hassan al-Shammari, who was appointed as Iraq's Minister of Defense in 2019, resigned from his post in 2020 after it was revealed that he also held Swedish citizenship.
According to reports from the Swedish state television SVT, it was determined that Shammari, who is registered as a resident of Stockholm, had received social benefits from Sweden in 2019 despite residing in Iraq and receiving a ministerial salary, leading to an investigation being opened against him.
