Message to Netanyahu from former Israeli PM Lapid: 'He will go home...'

Former Israeli Prime Minister and main opposition leader Yair Lapid has hinted that Benjamin Netanyahu "will not remain as prime minister in 2024."

Lapid, leader of Yesh Atid, the second-largest party in the Israeli Knesset, stated at a press conference in parliament, "We have to choose between the destruction caused by the government in 2023 and the great correction of the government that will come in 2024."

Pointing to public opinion polls showing a significant decline in the popularity of the parties forming the coalition, led by Netanyahu's Likud Party, Lapid said, "I know what Israeli society will choose, and you know it too."

"THE EXTREMISTS WILL GO HOME"

Addressing Netanyahu, Lapid stated, "The year 2024 will be completely different. Those who divide us and bring disaster upon us will not remain. The extremists will go home, and Netanyahu will go home too."

Avigdor Liberman, leader of the right-wing opposition party Yisrael Beiteinu, also said at a press conference, "I will only join the government on the day Netanyahu leaves, not even a second before."

The coalition government in Israel consists of Likud, as well as the ultra-Orthodox Jewish parties Shas and United Torah Judaism, and the far-right parties Religious Zionism, Otzma Yehudit, and Noam.

Polls conducted in Israel show that public support for Netanyahu's Likud party has halved.

According to a poll published by Israel's Channel 13, the number of seats for Likud, which currently holds 32 members in the 120-seat Knesset, would drop to 16.
