Former Polish Justice Minister's home raided over corruption allegations

The Polish National Prosecutor's Office announced that the Internal Security Agency (ABW) conducted a raid on the home of former Justice Minister Zbigniew Ziobro as part of a nationwide investigation into allegations of corruption within the Ministry of Justice.
Prosecutor Przemyslaw Nowak announced that, as part of the investigation into alleged corruption in the use of the Justice Fund during the tenure of former Justice Minister Zbigniew Ziobro, ABW teams searched numerous locations across the country, including the properties of Ziobro and four former members of parliament.
According to reports in the national press, 4 unnamed individuals were detained during the raids.
Jacek Dobrzynski, spokesperson for Poland's minister-coordinator of special services, shared information in a statement to the press that the ABW's searches were related to allegations of "public officials exceeding their powers and failing to fulfill their duties."
In late January, Polish Prosecutor General Adam Bodnar established an investigative team within the National Prosecutor's Office to examine allegations of corruption in the Justice Fund, which was created to assist crime victims and rehabilitate offenders.
Former Justice Minister Ziobro had been accused of using the Justice Fund for political purposes during his term between 2015 and 2023.
