France announces it will arrest Netanyahu

French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot, speaking on a program on the France 3 channel, made statements regarding Israel's actions in Gaza.

Barrot stated that while Israel has the right to defend itself within the framework of respect for international law, it has exceeded this framework by bombing civilians, forcibly displacing them, and establishing illegal settlements in the West Bank.

"We have strongly condemned these violations," said Barrot, emphasizing that Israel's obstruction of aid access is also a violation of international law.

'FRANCE IS COMMITTED TO INTERNATIONAL LAW'

When asked about the arrest warrant issued by the International Criminal Court for Netanyahu, Barrot replied, "France is committed to international justice and its independence."

When asked whether Netanyahu would be arrested if he came to France, he replied by saying, "France will always apply international law."

The French Ministry of Foreign Affairs also stated that the ICC's arrest warrant for Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant does not mean a trial, but rather the formalization of charges.

WHAT HAPPENED?

The ICC issued arrest warrants for Netanyahu and Gallant on November 21. While the US reacted to the decision, many European countries, including Ireland, Spain, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Austria, and Norway, announced that they would implement the decision.
