French President Emmanuel Macron has reappointed Sebastien Lecornu, who resigned from his post as prime minister earlier this week, as prime minister.

According to a written statement from the Elysee Palace, Macron reappointed Lecornu as prime minister and tasked him with forming a government.

Macron met with representatives of political parties in the National Assembly at the Elysee Palace during the day to discuss the government crisis in the country.

The far-right National Rally (RN) and the far-left France Unbowed (LFI) parties were not invited to the meeting.
