Hamas calls for a ceasefire! 'No serious proposal from Israel'

Hamas official Naim, in an interview with Yalda Hakim of Sky News in Qatar, made assessments regarding the current state of ceasefire negotiations in Gaza.

Naim stated that they were close to a ceasefire in July as part of the negotiations and that it was discussed in all its details, saying, "I think we were very close to reaching a ceasefire, to ending this war, to achieving a permanent ceasefire, a full withdrawal, and a prisoner exchange. Unfortunately, (Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin) Netanyahu chose another path."

Recalling that after they were close to a ceasefire, Israel carried out three separate massacres in Mawasi, Khan Yunis, and Gaza City, and assassinated former Hamas Political Bureau Chief Ismail Haniyeh on July 31, Naim stated, "We have not received any serious proposal since then."

Naim expressed that they are calling on everyone to take the necessary steps to stop this aggression, saying, "We want to secure a dignified and prosperous future for our children."

Hamas official Naim underscored that they are ready for a ceasefire agreement in Gaza.

US President Joe Biden announced on May 27 that Tel Aviv had presented a new three-phase ceasefire proposal for a prisoner exchange between Hamas and Israel.

Within a few hours, Hamas announced that they viewed Biden's proposals regarding a "permanent ceasefire, the withdrawal of occupation forces from the Gaza Strip, reconstruction, and a prisoner exchange" positively.

Although Biden said that it was Israel that presented the plan, Netanyahu always avoided making a strong statement indicating that he stood behind the proposals.

Later, Netanyahu introduced some conditions for a prisoner exchange that aimed to fragment Gaza and isolate it from the world.

Due to these conditions introduced by Netanyahu, the negotiations envisioning a prisoner exchange and a ceasefire in Gaza did not yield any results.
