Haribo scandal! Drugs found in products, being recalled

The drug scandal involving Haribo products has suddenly become a global agenda item. It was determined that there was cannabis in products sold in the Netherlands.

Taking action after complaints from those who ate the soft candies, the Netherlands Food and Consumer Product Safety Authority (NVWA) reported that people who consumed 1-kilogram bags of Haribo Happy Cola F!ZZ candies as a family felt unwell.

HARIBO HAS RECALLED ALL ITS PRODUCTS IN THE COUNTRY

According to a report by the BBC, investigations confirmed the presence of narcotic substances in samples taken from the candies. A spokesperson for the NVWA announced that drugs had been found in three packages so far, but the Haribo company has recalled all of its products.

EXPIRATION DATE WAS JANUARY 2026

The expiration date of the packages in question is stated as January 2026. It is not yet clear how many people have been affected.

Police authorities are investigating how the cannabis was mixed into the products. In a statement from the NVWA, it was emphasized that “products that could lead to health complaints such as dizziness when consumed are in circulation” and a warning was issued to “do not consume these candies.”

In a statement to the BBC, Haribo expressed that the incident is being handled with seriousness and that they are investigating how it occurred in cooperation with the police.
