According to information obtained from local authorities, 300 families living in high-risk areas have been evacuated from their homes due to volcanic activity that began on Sunday night.
While the lava spewing from the eruption, which occurred approximately 50 kilometers southwest of the capital, Guatemala City, and the resulting ash cloud were captured by amateur cameras, authorities announced that 30,000 people are facing the risk of evacuation.
It was stated that there have been no casualties so far, and it was reported that many schools have suspended education as a precaution and risky roads have been closed to vehicle traffic.
