Following the end of the 1-week humanitarian pause today, German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock has called for the continuation of the "humanitarian pause" in Gaza.

German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock, in a written statement regarding the latest developments in the Middle East, stated: "At this moment, we must do everything in our power to ensure the continuation of the humanitarian pause. Both for the hostages who have been waiting for weeks in dark tunnels to be released, and for the suffering people in Gaza who urgently need more humanitarian aid."
TWO-STATE SOLUTION
Baerbock assessed: "The suffering of the Israeli people is unbearable. The suffering of the people of Gaza is unbearable. This suffering must finally end for everyone. Israel will never be able to live in security unless terrorism is combated, and at the same time, security for Israel can only be possible if Palestinians also have hope for the future."
Arguing that "the only way to open a political horizon for a two-state solution that can provide security for both Israelis and Palestinians" is to ensure that Hamas lays down its arms, Baerbock asserted that everyone who sees the suffering of both sides and wants to end it must work to ensure that Hamas no longer poses an existential threat to Israel.
