Germany reacts sharply to the arrest of Ekrem İmamoğlu! 'Unacceptable'

German Federal Government Spokesperson Steffen Hebestreit made a statement regarding the arrest of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu. Hebestreit stated that Germany is following the developments with great concern and expressed that the removal of İmamoğlu from his post is unacceptable.

Hebestreit included the following statements in his remarks:

“We are following the current developments in Turkey with great concern. The arrest and removal from office of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu is absolutely unacceptable. This matter must be clarified very quickly and very transparently.”
