Ghalibaf: Ceasefire in Lebanon and our blocked assets must be released
In a post on his social media account, Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf stated that for the talks planned with the US in Pakistan tomorrow to begin, Israel's attacks on Lebanon must stop and Iran's blocked assets must be released.

Ghalibaf announced the conditions for participating in the talks planned with the US in Islamabad tomorrow in a message shared on his X social media account.
Stating that the two conditions mutually agreed upon for the start of negotiations between the parties have not yet been met, Ghalibaf said, "A ceasefire in Lebanon and the release of Iran's blocked assets before the start of negotiations. These two issues must be fulfilled before the negotiations begin."
Temporary ceasefire between the US and Iran, including Israel
In the process that turned into a war following the attacks launched by the US and Israel on Iran on February 28, and Iran's subsequent retaliations and attacks on some regional countries, US President Donald Trump announced on April 8 at around 01:30 that he had accepted a ceasefire.
Trump stated that they had accepted a 2-week ceasefire on the condition that the Strait of Hormuz be opened, and that they had received a 10-point proposal from Iran, which he described as a viable basis for negotiation. White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, contrary to Trump's statement, had said that Iran's demands were "unacceptable."
Although Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the mediator of the temporary ceasefire reached between Iran and the US that also includes Israel, announced that the ceasefire also covers Lebanon, the US administration later argued that Israel's attacks on Lebanon were not part of the temporary ceasefire made with Iran.
Iran, on the other hand, had announced that the ceasefire included the cessation of all conflicts and wars in the region, including in Lebanon.
President Masoud Pezeshkian had warned that the continuation of attacks on Lebanon, which violate the ceasefire, would make the planned negotiations between Iran and the US "meaningless," signaling that the talks could be canceled.
Parliament Speaker Ghalibaf also stated in a statement yesterday that the ceasefire covers Lebanon and that violations of the ceasefire would lead to "strong reactions," calling on the US to "Extinguish the fire immediately."
