The Lowy Institute has released its annual Global Diplomacy Index report. According to the report, Turkey ranks third in the world with 252 embassies in 252 cities across 147 countries. Having been behind Japan and France in 2023, Turkey has surpassed both countries this year to take third place, behind the US and China.

The report highlights that Turkey has expanded its diplomatic network in South America, as well as in the Middle East, Asia, and Africa. However, it was emphasized that Turkey maintains an 'Europe-centric' diplomatic network. Furthermore, Turkey, along with India, has become one of the two countries in the world that has developed its diplomatic network the fastest.

The Global Diplomacy Index focuses on the number of consulates countries possess and the number of different regions in which they are located. The report does not include passport power, diplomatic agreements between countries, or economic relations.
