Ground operation begins: Israel launches 'Northern Arrows' operation into Lebanon!

Tensions between Israel and Hezbollah have escalated in the Middle East.

After detonating pagers and radios used by Hezbollah in Lebanon on September 17, Israel killed Hezbollah Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah in an airstrike in Beirut on September 27.

Most recently, Israel began a ground operation targeting Hezbollah positions in Lebanon during the night hours.

In a statement from the Israeli military, it was said, "Limited and targeted raids have begun against Hezbollah targets. The air force and artillery units are supporting the operation. The targets are points that pose a threat to northern Israel."

While it was announced that the operation is named "Northern Arrows," it was stated that it would proceed simultaneously with the situation in Gaza.

According to the Lebanese news agency NNA, Israeli artillery units struck the Al-Wazzani, Al-Khiam, and Marjayoun plains in the south for 2 hours.

Israeli warplanes conducted an airstrike on the Kawkaba-Marjayoun highway, causing the road to be closed to traffic.

Israeli warplanes also conducted intense low-altitude flights over the capital, Beirut, and carried out 8 airstrikes on the Dahiyeh district. Smoke rose from the skies over Dahiyeh following the attacks. Reports indicated that many buildings were destroyed in the strikes.

US State Department Spokesperson Matthew Miller announced that Israel had informed the US about a series of limited ground operations it planned in Lebanon.

In his statement, Miller said, “We have had conversations with them about these operations, but I will let them speak to the timing and the purpose of them. They have informed us about a series of operations. They told us at this time that these are limited operations focusing on Hezbollah infrastructure near the border, but we are in constant conversation about that.”

Miller also called on both sides to refrain from steps that would escalate tensions and to accept a ceasefire.

ISRAELI MILITARY VEHICLES AT THE LEBANESE BORDER

According to information from eyewitnesses, the sound of military vehicles moving toward the Abel el-Kamh town, located opposite the Al-Wazzani border region in southern Lebanon, where the Israeli army began bombing with artillery fire, was heard.

Eyewitnesses emphasized that they heard the roar of numerous military vehicles, noting that Israeli artillery was also striking the Al-Wazzani border region with artillery fire.

EVACUATION CALL FOR THOSE IN SOUTHERN BEIRUT

The Israeli military issued an evacuation call to civilians living in the southern suburbs of Beirut, citing that attacks would be carried out against Hezbollah targets. 

According to Reuters, the sound of an explosion was heard in southern Beirut following the evacuation warning. 

According to information cited by AFP from Lebanese security sources, at least 6 explosions occurred in southern Beirut.

ISRAEL DECLARES THREE AREAS AS MILITARY ZONES

The Israeli military declared the Metula, Misgav Am, and Kfar Giladi regions along the Lebanese border as military zones. In a statement made by the army, it was emphasized that entering these regions is strictly prohibited.

LEBANESE TROOPS WITHDRAW FROM POSITIONS ON THE ISRAELI BORDER

Meanwhile, Lebanese troops have withdrawn at least 5 kilometers from their positions along the Israeli border in the south.

Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant had visited armored units in the country's north this morning, hinting at a ground offensive into Lebanon.
