FIRST REACTION FROM TURKEY
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reacted to the assassination of Haniyeh.
The following statements were included in the ministry's statement on social media:
"We condemn the cowardly assassination of Hamas Political Bureau Chief Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran.
We extend our condolences to the Palestinian people, who have given hundreds of thousands of martyrs like Haniyeh to live in peace in their own homeland, under the roof of their own state.
It has once again been revealed that the Netanyahu Government has no intention of achieving peace.
This attack also aims to expand the war in Gaza to a regional dimension. Unless the international community takes action to stop Israel, our region will face much greater conflicts.
Turkey will continue to support the just cause of the Palestinian people."
HARSH REACTION FROM PARLIAMENT SPEAKER KURTULMUŞ
TBMM Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş, in a post on social media, condemned the attack and used the following expressions:
"When a calamity befalls them, they say, 'Indeed we belong to Allah, and indeed to Him we will return.'"
Another great mujahid has joined the caravan of martyrs of Gaza. Our brother Ismail Haniyeh, the political leader of the Palestinian cause who gave dozens of martyrs from his family, was martyred by the cowardly attack of the humanity-hating, murderous Zionist Israeli administration. I pray for God's mercy upon him; may his rank be high and his place be paradise.
He lived as he believed and died as he lived. The life he dedicated to the Palestinian cause and the struggle he waged became an example for generations. In the face of his dignified stance and unwavering faith after the martyrdom of his children and grandchildren, my Lord rewarded him with martyrdom as well.
As the late Alija Izetbegovic said; "They buried us in the ground, but they did not know that we were seeds."
I extend my patience and condolences to all the Palestinian people and those who have devoted their hearts to the cause of a Free Palestine.
