Hamas Political Bureau member Osama Hamdan made statements regarding US President Joe Biden's announcement of a three-phase ceasefire proposal between Israel and Hamas.

Hamdan said that Biden's ceasefire proposal for Gaza remains "just talk" and that they have not received any written commitment regarding a ceasefire.

Hamdan stated, "There is no proposal on the table; these are just words Biden said in a speech. The Americans have not yet presented anything in writing that commits to what Biden said in his speech," adding that Biden is trying to cover up the ceasefire agreement that Hamas accepted last month but which was rejected by Israel.

BIDEN HAD ANNOUNCED A THREE-PHASE CEASEFIRE PROPOSAL

In a statement last Friday, Biden announced a new ceasefire proposal, saying the proposal was "a roadmap for a permanent ceasefire and the release of all hostages." Biden stated that the first phase of the three-phase proposal envisions Israel's withdrawal from residential areas in Gaza during a six-week ceasefire process and the release of some of the hostages held by both sides.

Noting that in the second phase of the plan, the Israeli army would withdraw from the Gaza Strip in exchange for the release of all living hostages, including Israeli soldiers, Biden stated that in the final phase, a comprehensive reconstruction plan for Gaza would be initiated.

However, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced that they would continue the attacks until the "set goals" are achieved.
