Abu Obeida, spokesperson for the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, made statements following the start of the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip. Obeida stated that Hamas is committed to the ceasefire and called on mediators to ensure that Israel also adheres to it.
"AN AGREEMENT COULD HAVE BEEN REACHED A YEAR AGO"
Ubeyde said, "An agreement could have been reached a year ago, but Netanyahu's malicious ambitions led him to continue this genocidal war," adding, "We want the agreement to succeed to put an end to the shedding of our people's blood."
Emphasizing that Hamas is ready to fulfill all terms of the agreement and adhere to the established timeline, Obeida stated, "All of this depends on reciprocity; otherwise, the entire agreement will be in jeopardy. Israel is the source of all evil, and we must put an end to this. Any attempts to continue this will be met with force."
Obeida noted that potential Israeli violations would jeopardize the process and that such violations would also put the lives of the hostages at risk.
