Harsh reaction from Palestine to Israel: Ban on the call to prayer at the Ibrahimi Mosque

The Palestinian Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs strongly condemned the Israeli occupation forces for preventing the dawn call to prayer from being broadcast from the minarets of the Ibrahimi Mosque for 8 consecutive days. The ministry emphasized that this situation is "a dangerous development aimed at completely banning Islamic symbols in the mosque in the future."

The statement pointed out that this action by Israel carries the risk of escalating tensions and violates the sanctity of the Ibrahimi Mosque. The ministry also stated that foreign delegations wishing to examine Israel's Judaization efforts are not being permitted to enter the mosque.

It was also noted that Israeli soldiers occupying Palestinian territories have been performing religious rituals at the Ibrahimi Mosque accompanied by loud music and committing other violations against the sanctity of the mosque. The ministry stated that such violations are occurring systematically and that the increased control over the mosque requires intervention from the international community.

The statement declared, “It is essential for the international community to do what is necessary to end these violations and to affirm the sovereignty of the Palestinian people.” Furthermore, it was noted that since October 7, 2023, alongside Israel's attacks on the Gaza Strip, there has been an increase in detentions, raids, and attacks against Palestinians in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.
