Harsh words from Iran to the US: 'We will retaliate'
Following the US airstrikes on nuclear facilities in Iran this morning, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated that Washington has effectively ended diplomacy. Responding sharply to calls to 'return to the table,' Araghchi announced that Iran will exercise its right to legitimate defense and will retaliate in kind when necessary.

Following the airstrikes carried out by the US this morning against Iran's nuclear facilities in Fordo, Natanz, and Isfahan, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi made very harsh statements. Araghchi stated that the attack has not only military but also diplomatic consequences and reacted with the following words:
“We were in negotiations with the US last week when Israel decided to blow up diplomacy. Now, the US has done the same. Iran is being told to return to the negotiating table. How can Iran return to something it never left?”
Araghchi said that they are open to diplomacy, but that these attacks have effectively destroyed “peaceful solutions.”
“IRAN WILL DEFEND ITSELF AGAINST BOTH THE US AND ISRAEL”
The Iranian Foreign Minister emphasized that his country will exercise its right to self-defense in accordance with the United Nations Charter. Stating that Iran is determined to respond to the attacks of not only the US but also Israel, Araghchi used the following expressions:
“Under these conditions, calls for Iran to ‘return to diplomacy’ have lost their meaning. A country under attack is determined to take all necessary measures to ensure its security.”
“THEY ONLY UNDERSTAND THE LANGUAGE OF THREATS”
Araghchi, who argued that the US and Israel are turning to military imposition rather than diplomacy in the region, said that both countries now act only with the language of threats.
At the end of his statement, Araghchi also drew attention to an important diplomatic contact. The Iranian Foreign Minister announced that he would travel to Moscow in the afternoon and hold a direct meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin the following morning.
