Heatwave scorching Europe moves toward Turkey: Striking images from record temperatures

The heatwave in Paris has directly impacted daily life. Authorities have banned alcohol consumption in some public areas to reduce the burden on emergency services; the Eiffel Tower and the Louvre Museum have begun closing earlier to visitors due to the extreme heat.

Millions of people across Europe have faced temperatures exceeding 30 degrees. While France has been one of the countries most severely affected by the heatwave, the risk has increased for vulnerable groups, particularly the elderly population.

Experts state that the heatwave is driven by an "omega blocking" system that traps hot and dry air from North Africa in the region. This atmospheric structure has caused temperatures to rise well above seasonal norms.

According to World Health Organization data, more than 1,300 "excess deaths" linked to the heatwave have been recorded in Europe since June 21. WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus described heat stress as a "silent killer."

The heatwave is expected to move through the Balkans toward Ukraine, and subsequently toward Turkey and Central Asia. While Bosnia and Herzegovina is battling forest fires triggered by the extreme heat, experts predict that temperatures will remain above seasonal norms for some time.
