Hezbollah leader Naim Qassem makes first statement following ceasefire
In his first statement since the ceasefire agreement with Israel took effect, Hezbollah leader Naim Qassem said, "Coordination between Hezbollah and the Lebanese army will be carried out at a high level to implement the agreement. However, we are ready for war if Israel attacks."

Hezbollah leader Naim Qassem spoke for the first time after the ceasefire agreement reached with Israel came into effect. Describing the agreement reached after months of conflict with Israel as a "divine victory," Qassem stated that this victory was greater than the one in 2006.
Noting that Israel's losses were "very significant," Qassem said, "Thousands of people in Israel were forced to migrate from border towns and settlements along the border."
Stating that they approved the ceasefire, Qassem used the expressions, "Coordination between Hezbollah and the Lebanese army will be carried out at a high level to implement the agreement. However, we are ready for war if Israel attacks."
Emphasizing that Israeli soldiers suffered heavy losses in the clashes, Qassem said that the plans laid out by the assassinated leader Hassan Nasrallah were "effective and took various developments into account."

Noting that Israeli forces killed and displaced thousands of people, Qassem said, "They have not been successful against the determined Lebanese people, who have astonished the world and struck fear into the Israeli army." In his speech, Qassem stated that he hopes the Lebanese president will be elected at the parliamentary session to be held on January 9. Qassem once again emphasized that the organization maintains its right to self-defense.
Commemorating many individuals, including former Hezbollah leader Nasrallah and Hashem Safieddine, who was seen as Nasrallah's successor, Qassem emphasized that support for Palestine will not cease.
