High temperature warning issued in India's capital, New Delhi

A warning has been issued for the capital New Delhi and surrounding states due to high temperatures affecting northern India.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the temperature in the capital New Delhi reached 47.1 degrees yesterday.

A heat warning has been issued for the surrounding states of Punjab, Haryana, and Rajasthan.

CALL TO 'DRINK WATER'

IMD official Soma Sen Roy encouraged the public to avoid going out during midday hours, wear loose clothing, and drink plenty of water to avoid heatstroke.

Experts urged voters attending rallies or waiting in line to vote during the general elections held between April 19 and June 1 to take precautions against heatstroke.
