Houthis: We targeted 3 ships in the last 24 hours
The Iran-backed Houthis in Yemen announced that they struck 3 ships in the Red Sea and the Arabian Sea with ballistic missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) in the last 24 hours.

Houthi military spokesperson Yahya Saree said in a televised speech that they had carried out 3 military operations in the Red Sea and the Arabian Sea.
Saree stated that the Houthis struck the ship named Verbena in the Arabian Sea with a ballistic missile, causing the ship to catch fire.
Noting that the ships named SeaGuardian and Athena in the Red Sea were also directly hit with ballistic missiles and UAVs, Saree did not provide information about the companies that own the ships.
Saree stated that the attacks were carried out "in support of the oppressed Palestinian people and in response to the US and UK attacks on Yemen."
The military spokesperson emphasized that "these attacks will not stop until Israel's aggression stops and the blockade imposed on the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip is lifted."
THE LATEST SITUATION IN THE RED SEA
Since October 31, 2023, the Iran-backed Houthis in Yemen have been seizing commercial ships they claim are affiliated with Israeli companies off the coast of Yemen, and attacking some of them with drones and missiles, in response to Israel's attacks in Gaza.
Following the Houthis' actions, many shipping companies decided to suspend their voyages in the Red Sea.
On December 18, 2023, the US announced the creation of a multinational "maritime task force" called "Operation Prosperity Guardian" with the participation of a group of countries, citing the threat to global maritime trade security.
Following the US and UK attacks on areas under Houthi control in Yemen, the Houthis announced that they would target all ships belonging to these two countries.
