Thousands of pagers and walkie-talkies used by Hezbollah were detonated in a coordinated manner. Experts have shared their analyses on how the attack was planned and the methods of the operation based on the initial findings obtained.
Most intelligence experts believe that a small amount of stable explosive was carefully placed inside each sabotaged device.
Alan Woodward, a professor of cybersecurity at the University of Surrey, speaking to The Guardian newspaper on the subject, stated, 'You didn't need much explosive because the fact that the devices were close to the human body meant that even a few grams of explosive would cause injury.'
According to Woodward's claim, a specific change was made to the software embedded in the pagers. This means that when a specific message was sent, an explosion would be triggered.
ARE THE ATTACKS A HARBINGER OF A GROUND WAR?
Eyewitnesses say the pagers beeped, paused, and then exploded. According to claims, this caused people to bring the pagers to their ears, which increased the number of injuries.
Experts state that the attacks were a coordinated attempt to disrupt Hezbollah's communications. The events are described as 'the kind of activity that could be a precursor to conventional military attacks.'
Oleg Brodt, a director at Ben-Gurion University's Cyber Security Research Center, said that sabotaging the pagers was not a trivial undertaking and meant that the supply chain had been compromised.
Brodt also added, 'Israel's Mossad spy agency may have had to manufacture the fake pagers itself.'
The pagers ostensibly bore the logo of the Taiwanese manufacturer Gold Apollo. The company's founder, Hsu Ching-Kuang, had reported that the production of the AR-924 model involved in the attack was contracted to Budapest-based BAC Consulting KFT three years ago.

According to The Guardian, BAC Consulting CEO Cristiana Barsony-Arcidiacono, upon being reached by the newspaper, 'asked the reporter how they got the number and then hung up'.
Arcidiacono confirmed to NBC that her company worked with Gold Apollo. When asked about the pagers and the explosions, Barsony-Arcidiacono said, 'I don't make the pagers. We are just the intermediary. I think you misunderstood.'
Later, Hungarian authorities also announced to the public that the pagers were not produced in the country.
NASRALLAH HAD SAID, 'YOUR PHONE IS THEIR AGENT'
According to The Guardian, those who organized the attacks had good intelligence within Hezbollah. The planners of the attack knew that Hezbollah leader Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah had ordered about 5,000 pagers after warning members of the organization against using mobile phones in February.
The Hezbollah Secretary-General had warned at the time, 'Your phone is their agent.'
The attackers also knew who would supply the sabotaged devices to Hezbollah and had found a way to control their production and delivery to the militant group.
Emile Hokayem of the International Institute for Strategic Studies said, 'The scale, destruction, and precision of the attack point to the existence of a complex operation that lasted for months.'

DID ISRAEL INFORM THE US BEFORE THE ATTACK?
The US Department of State had stated that they were not informed in advance about the attack plan.
However, according to the Axios website, Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant called his US counterpart Lloyd Austin 'minutes' before the pagers exploded to inform him that they would be conducting an operation in Lebanon.
