Hungarian PM Orban issues EU ultimatum to Ukraine

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban made statements regarding Ukraine during his annual state of the nation address in Budapest. Describing Ukraine as a buffer zone between NATO and Russia, Orban said that after the war ends, Ukraine will return to its role as a "buffer zone." Expressing that the decision on whether Ukraine will one day become an EU member will be made by the Hungarians, Orban said, "As long as Hungary and the Hungarians are against it, Ukraine will never be an EU member."

Orban stated, "Ukraine's membership would ruin farmers in Hungary. Not just them, it would destroy Hungary's entire national economy."

SERVANT ANALOGY

Criticizing the Ukraine summit hosted by French President Emmanuel Macron in Paris on Monday, Orban said, "I looked at the photos of our European allies' meeting in Paris. They looked as if they had eaten sour apples. The EU is offended that the Ukraine negotiations started without them. They want to sit at the table. If you want to sit at the table where the big players are, look around and search for the servants. If you cannot find them, know that it is you. That is all I have to say about Paris."

"UKRAINE WILL NEVER BE A NATO MEMBER"

Stating that the war in Ukraine is nearing its end and that the goal of the war is to bring Ukrainian territory under NATO authority, Orban said, "It remains a mystery even today how European and US liberals could have thought that the Russians would just watch what was happening. What is clear is that the Ukraine experiment has failed. Ukraine, or what remains of it, will once again be a buffer zone between Russia and NATO. Ukraine will never be a NATO member."

TAX EXEMPTION

In his speech, Orban also announced measures to address the aging population, stating that in the future, mothers with two children will not have to pay taxes for life. Emphasizing that families raising children should not be perceived as being at a financial disadvantage compared to those who do not have children, Orban said, "We will take many steps by introducing a 3-child policy in October 2025 and a 2-child policy in January 2026."

"A HUMAN CAN ONLY BE A WOMAN OR A MAN"

Emphasizing that the government is also prepared to implement price caps on rising food prices, Orban stated that as a last resort, they are ready to take steps to limit the profit margins that retail companies can make on food. Announcing that he is considering proposing an amendment to the Hungarian constitution to state that a human can only be a woman or a man, Orban also touched upon the march planned for this summer in Budapest, saying, "I advise the organizers of the Pride march not to waste their time preparing for this year. It is nothing but a waste of time and money."
