Ilham Aliyev takes oath and begins his term
Ilham Aliyev, who received 92.12 percent of the vote in Azerbaijan's presidential election on February 7, has officially begun his term after taking the oath of office. Placing his hand on the Quran, Aliyev swore, "I will remain faithful to the national and spiritual values and traditions that the Azerbaijani people have built over centuries, and I will always uphold them."

An inauguration ceremony was held at the Milli Majlis of Azerbaijan for Ilham Aliyev, who was elected president for the fifth time.
In his speech at the ceremony, Constitutional Court President Farhad Abdullayev stated that the election results announced by the Central Election Commission of Azerbaijan had been approved by the Constitutional Court and that Ilham Aliyev was officially the President.

Aliyev, who was then invited to the podium, placed his hand on the Constitution of Azerbaijan and took the oath, saying, "During my presidency, I swear to remain committed to the Constitution of Azerbaijan, to protect the independence and territorial integrity of the state, and to serve my people with merit."
Placing his hand on the Quran, Aliyev swore, "I will remain faithful to the national and spiritual values and traditions that the Azerbaijani people have built over centuries, and I will always uphold them."
During the ceremony, where the National Anthem of Azerbaijan was played, Aliyev kissed the Azerbaijani flag.
