Russian President Vladimir Putin discussed the situation in the Middle East in a phone call with Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi.

According to the statement made by the Kremlin, Putin held a phone call with Raisi at the request of the Iranian side.

During the meeting, where the "situation in the Middle East following Israel's attack on Iran's diplomatic mission in Syria and Iran's subsequent countermeasures" was evaluated, Putin expressed his hope that "all parties will show restraint and will not allow a new round of confrontation that could lead to catastrophic consequences for the entire region."

Iranian President Raisi emphasized that "these actions by Iran were necessary and limited, and that they are not in favor of further escalation of tension in the future."

During the meeting, the two leaders stated that "the lack of a solution to the Palestinian-Israeli issue is the cause of the events in the Middle East," and reaffirmed the principled positions of "Russia and Iran regarding the urgent need for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, the alleviation of the difficult humanitarian situation, and the creation of necessary conditions for a political and diplomatic resolution of the crisis."

In the meeting, where relations between Russia and Iran were also discussed, the importance of developing future cooperation in various fields, including the implementation of infrastructure projects, was emphasized.
