Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, regarding the meeting to be held today in Alaska between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin, stated, "The time has come to end the war, and appropriate steps must be taken by Russia."

In a post on his Telegram account, Zelensky stated that he held a meeting with military officials.

Stating that they discussed developments on the front line during the meeting, Zelensky reported that they continue to repel Russian attacks.

Referring to the heavy clashes in the direction of the city of Dobropillia in the Donetsk region, Zelensky said, "Today, it was decided to further strengthen this and other directions in the Donetsk region."

Arguing that the Russians are trying to gain superiority on the ground before the meeting between Trump and Putin, Zelensky noted the following:

"The Russian army continues to suffer significant losses while trying to provide more favorable political positions for the Russian leadership at the meeting in Alaska. We see these intentions and are informing our allies about the real situation."

Stating that they are waiting for information about the preparations and results of the meeting that Trump and Putin will hold, Zelensky assessed, "What is important is that this meeting opens a real path to a fair peace and a meaningful dialogue in a trilateral format between Ukraine, the US, and the Russian side. The time has come to end the war, and appropriate steps must be taken by Russia."
