United Nations (UN) Secretary-General Guterres issued a written statement regarding developments in the Israel-Palestine conflict.
Assessing that "we are on the brink of an abyss in the Middle East," Guterres stated that he had two important calls to make.
Calling on Hamas to release the hostages unconditionally, Guterres stated, "Israel must provide immediate and unimpeded access to provide humanitarian aid to civilians in Gaza."
"CANNOT BE A SUBJECT OF BARGAINING"
Underlining that water, electricity, and other basic necessities are running out in Gaza, Guterres noted that the UN has warehouses in Egypt, Jordan, Israel, and the West Bank, and that it could transport the supplies there within a few hours.
Stating that both of his calls are important, Guterres emphasized that both issues must be implemented without being made a subject of bargaining.
