Pulmonologist Prof. Theodoros Vasilakopulos, in a statement to the Hellenic Broadcasting Corporation (ERT), stated that the death rates due to COVID-19 are "very high" and emphasized the importance of vaccination against the virus.

Vasilakopulos said, "An average of 50 deaths per week due to coronavirus is a very high figure. What needs to be done is to get vaccinated with the vaccines that very effectively prevent the variants present in our country, and we need to increase the number of tests when symptoms appear."

Vasilakopulos warned that elderly people and those in high-risk groups, in particular, need to be more careful.
