Internet access in Iran has almost completely cut off

According to data published by organizations monitoring international internet traffic, the internet access rate in Iran has decreased dramatically in the last few hours, falling to just 4 percent of its normal level.
No significant changes in internet service were observed in the country over the past few days. However, recent measurements reported a sudden collapse in connectivity, with a major drop occurring that brought the stable trend seen between February 24-28 down to the 4 percent level.
So far, there has been no official statement from the Iranian government regarding the outage. However, it is known that internet access has been heavily restricted in the country before during periods of mass protests or when security measures were increased.
The near-total nationwide internet blackout is severely hindering citizens' access to information and international communication.
