While uncertainty remains regarding when the war initiated by the US and Israel against Iran will end, the Wall Street Journal (WSJ) has brought a striking claim to the agenda.
According to the report, which cites government sources, Trump has told his advisors that he is prepared to end military operations against Iran even if the Strait of Hormuz remains largely closed.
It was reported that the Trump administration concluded that an operation aimed at the immediate reopening of the strait would extend the conflict beyond the planned 4 to 6-week duration.
It was noted that Washington instead plans to apply diplomatic pressure on Tehran regarding the Strait of Hormuz, while simultaneously aiming to achieve key objectives such as neutralizing Iran's naval forces and missile capabilities.
It was stated that if diplomacy fails, Trump plans to ask European and Gulf countries to lead efforts to reopen the Strait of Hormuz.
It was emphasized that while military options that Trump could prefer do exist, they are not currently a priority.
