Iran announces 6 candidates for presidential election: That name's candidacy rejected for the 3rd time
The Iranian Ministry of Interior has announced the 6 names whose candidacies have been accepted for the 14th presidential election to be held on June 28. Former Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's candidacy was rejected for the 3rd time.

Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi lost his life in a helicopter crash on May 19, and the names whose candidacies have been accepted for the 14th presidential election to be held in the country on June 28 have been determined.
The Guardian Council sent the list of candidates who will compete in the presidential election to the Ministry of Interior, and the list containing the 6 names approved by the council was announced.
In the statement made by the Ministry of Interior, the list, which consists entirely of male candidates, includes Tabriz MP Masoud Pezeshkian, former Minister of Justice and Interior Mostafa Pourmohammadi, former Security Council Secretary Saeed Jalili, Tehran Mayor Alireza Zakani, Head of the Martyrs Foundation Amir-Hossein Ghazizadeh Hashemi, and Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf.
AHMADINEJAD'S CANDIDACY VETOED ONCE AGAIN
74 individuals who applied for candidacy were vetoed. The candidacies of former Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, former Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani, and former First Vice President Eshaq Jahangiri were not accepted. Ahmadinejad's candidacy has been rejected for the third time, following 2017 and 2021, while Larijani's has been rejected twice.
Larijani's candidacy was also not accepted in 2021.
ELECTION CAMPAIGN WILL END ON JUNE 27
The 6 candidates who will compete in the presidential election will be able to continue their election campaign activities until 08:00 on June 27.
Iran will go to the polls on June 28
Following the death of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi in a helicopter crash on May 19, presidential authority was granted to First Vice President Mohammad Mokhber for a period of 50 days in accordance with Article 131 of the Constitution.
Later, a meeting was held hosted by Mokhber regarding the determination of the election date. At the meeting, it was announced that the presidential elections would be held on June 28, in line with the decision taken by the Guardian Council.
The candidate registration process for the presidential elections, which began on May 30, ended on June 3. A total of 80 people applied for candidacy during the 5-day application process.
