Iran announces casualties from frigate sunk by the US

The Iranian Navy frigate "IRIS Dena," returning from the Milan 2026 exercise held in India, was attacked by a US Virginia-class fast-attack submarine off the coast of Sri Lanka on March 4. The Public Relations Unit of the Iranian Army shared details regarding the attack with the public.

It was reported that 104 soldiers out of a total crew of 136 lost their lives as a result of the frigate being struck. The statement noted that the fate of 20 soldiers on board has not yet been determined.

Iranian officials stated that the 32 soldiers who survived the attack were injured. The incident has caused tensions to rise in the region.
