Iran announces it has downed a US drone over the Strait of Hormuz

Iranian media, citing the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), announced that an MQ-9 Reaper type unmanned aerial vehicle flying over the Strait of Hormuz has been downed.

The report stated that the drone in question was hit by a defense system operating over the strait. No information was shared regarding where the unmanned aerial vehicle originated from.
