Iran discusses sanctions and nuclear program with France, Germany, and the UK in Switzerland

Iran met with France, Germany, and the UK in Geneva, Switzerland, to discuss the sanctions imposed on it and its nuclear program. In a statement on his social media account following the meeting, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi noted that they attended the meeting alongside Deputy Foreign Minister Majid Takht-Ravanchi, stating, "Both sides mutually explained their positions regarding United Nations (UN) Security Council Resolution 2231."

Emphasizing his country's commitment to diplomacy, Gharibabadi stated that they are in favor of a diplomatic solution that would be mutually beneficial for both sides. Gharibabadi said, "It is now time for the three European countries and the UN Security Council to make the right decision and allow time and space for diplomacy."

"THEY HAVE NO RIGHT TO USE IT"

Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei also made a statement to state television regarding the talks, saying, "Today, in the negotiations between Iran and the three European countries, Iran clearly conveyed its demand regarding the lifting of sanctions and nuclear rights to the European side. We told the Europeans that they have no legal right to use the snapback mechanism and that if they take such a step, the consequences will be theirs to bear."

Baghaei also reported that it was decided that contacts between the parties would continue in the coming days.
