Iran increases defense spending by 3 times for next year
The Iranian Parliament has approved a budget for the coming year that includes an increase of over 200 percent in military spending. Government Spokesperson Fatemeh Mohajerani emphasized that military needs are a priority and made statements regarding the U.S.'s policy in the region.

Government Spokesperson Fatemeh Mohajerani evaluated current developments during a press conference held in the capital, Tehran.
Stating that every effort is being made to meet defense needs in the budget for the coming year, the draft of which was approved by Parliament today, Mohajerani said, "Special importance has been given to this issue. For this reason, a significant increase of over 200 percent has been made in the country's military budget."
When asked about Iran's view on the presidential elections in the U.S., Mohajerani stated, "The subject of this election concerns the American people, and it is not important to us which of these two candidates is elected."
Stating that they hope the president to be elected in the U.S. will respect the national sovereignty of other countries and abandon policies that cause tensions in the region, Mohajerani said, "This will be to the benefit of their people. Every time the U.S. has increased tension in the regions, it has seen its losses."
Mohajerani said that the construction of a wall on the country's eastern borders to combat irregular migration is ongoing and that the deportation of unauthorized foreign nationals is also continuing.
