The Iranian Foreign Ministry issued a written statement following the ceasefire reached between Israel and Hamas in the Gaza Strip.
The statement emphasized that Iran has always supported any initiative aimed at ending the genocide, the withdrawal of occupying forces, the delivery of humanitarian aid, the release of Palestinian prisoners, and the protection of the fundamental rights of the Palestinian people. The statement added, "Iran supports the legitimate resistance of the Palestinian people and their right to self-determination."
In this regard, it has mobilized all its diplomatic resources over the past two years, particularly at the regional level, and has engaged in intensive efforts within the platforms of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and the United Nations (UN). Efforts have been made to exert pressure on the Zionist regime and its supporters, and these efforts have been carried out with the goal of stopping the genocide in Gaza and the withdrawal of occupying forces from the region," the statement read.
The statement noted that the international community must be careful to ensure that Israel does not violate its promises, emphasizing that all parties must remain vigilant against Israel's "deceptive and unreliable behavior."
The statement further declared, "The cessation of crimes and genocide in Gaza does not absolve the international community of its collective legal, humanitarian, and moral responsibility to ensure justice. States and competent international institutions are obligated to identify and prosecute the perpetrators and those responsible for the war crimes, genocide, and crimes against humanity committed in the Gaza Strip. This process is of great importance in ending the decades-long impunity of the Zionist regime."
