Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei made a statement to the Iranian press regarding the ongoing negotiations concerning the Strait of Hormuz.

Baghaei announced that the negotiations between Iran and Oman aimed at ensuring safe maritime transport in the Strait of Hormuz are continuing and that the talks are progressing in a positive atmosphere.

Pointing out that the discussions in question are being conducted between the two countries bordering the Strait of Hormuz, Baghaei stated that the talks are focused on determining safe transit routes for ships.

Baghaei noted that the sovereignty rights and national security sensitivities of both Iran and Oman are being taken into account in the determination of these routes.

Stating that the talks have been positive at both the technical and political levels so far, Baghaei indicated that Iran is working in cooperation with Oman to establish the necessary mechanisms for how maritime traffic in the Strait of Hormuz will be managed in the future, adding that the final results will be shared with the public once the negotiations are concluded.
