Iran reacts sharply to Trump's remarks at NATO Summit: 'One must speak in his own language'

Iran has responded sharply to statements made by US President Donald Trump at the NATO Summit in Ankara regarding potential attacks on Iran.

Ebrahim Rezaei, spokesperson for the Iranian Parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Committee, stated, "Trump has once again spoken of occupying Kharg Island. Come on, we are waiting for you, and we promise that not a single American soldier will return alive."

Rezaei also issued a warning to Gulf countries, whom he accused of siding with the US during conflicts between the parties, saying, "Gulf countries that side with Trump in an Iran-US conflict should be careful to protect their oil and natural gas wells. We have no red lines when it comes to defending the security of the Iranian nation."

"One must speak to Trump in his own language"

Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi also reacted to Trump's remarks, stating, "Trump's statements today, ranging from insults toward the Iranian people to new threats of attack, are not a sign of strength; on the contrary, they are an admission of the failure of a policy built for years on brute force, sanctions, and threats. This policy has failed to bring the Iranian people to their knees."

Gharibabadi added, "One must speak to the criminal and murderer Trump in his own language; it seems he understands the language of force better."

"We respond to rudeness with great courage"

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi reacted to Trump's insults toward the Iranian leadership, saying, "Using derogatory expressions toward the civilized and brave Iranian people does not diminish their greatness. Iranians are known for their courtesy, culture, and strong moral values. We do not respond to rudeness with rudeness; on the contrary, we respond to it with our actions, fearlessly and with great courage."

"The US has violated the memorandum of understanding"

Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei said that the US has violated the memorandum of understanding between the parties through unilateral actions and attacks. In a statement on his social media account, Baghaei drew attention to the fifth article of the memorandum, which specifies Iran's responsibility in determining regulations for the safe passage of ships through the Strait of Hormuz, and emphasized that the US is acting in violation of this article. Spokesperson Baghaei underscored that Iran will defend its national interests and exercise its sovereign rights.

Trump: "They are led by sick people"

US President Donald Trump, who made statements in Ankara before the 36th NATO Summit of Heads of State and Government, had criticized the Iranian leadership in harsh terms while answering journalists' questions. When asked by a journalist, "Is the ceasefire with Iran over?", Trump replied, "The ceasefire with Iran is over for me. I don't want to deal with them anymore. Because they are filth. They are led by sick people. Savage, violent people. If they had nuclear weapons, they would use them. In my opinion, I think it's over. The negotiators are good people, they want to negotiate. I think trying to make a deal with Iran is a waste of time. Because they are liars. If we made a deal with them, we made a deal, everyone is fine. You say no nuclear weapons. Then they say, 'We didn't even talk about such a thing.' They are all truly insane."
