Iranian Leader Khamenei hints at Turkey: A neighboring government played an open role in Syria

Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution of Iran, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, claimed that the US and Israel were the primary architects of the process that led to the overthrow of the Bashar al-Assad government. He also hinted at Turkey by stating, "A government neighboring Syria played and continues to play an open role in this event."

Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, in his first statement since the overthrow of Bashar al-Assad, referred to the Turkish administration by saying, “Let there be no doubt that what happened in Syria is the result of an American and Zionist plan. Yes, a neighboring country of Syria has played an open role in this matter and continues to play this role; everyone can see this, but the main planners and the command center are in the US and the Zionist regime.”

The Leader also added, “We have some evidence. This evidence leaves no room for doubt.”

Ayatollah Khamenei also emphasized the determination and growing influence of the resistance movement in the region. He described the resistance as follows: “The more pressure you apply, the stronger the resistance becomes; the more crimes they commit, the more motivated the resistance becomes. The more you oppose it, the more it expands. And by the permission of Allah, the scope of the resistance will spread to more regions than ever before.”

Criticizing analyses that underestimate the power of the resistance, the Leader responded to those who comment that a weakening resistance would also weaken Iran: “Those ignorant analysts who think the resistance will weaken, and who believe that if they see the resistance weakening, Islamic Iran will also weaken—I tell you, by the permission of Allah, Iran is strong and will become even stronger.”
